Ellen’s Old Post About Making an Employee Cry Is Going Viral

Though it’s been long rumored that Ellen DeGeneres wasn’t actually as nice as her public persona made her seem, over the past few months, numerous stories of racial discrimination, sexual harassment, and an overall toxic workplace have engulfed The Ellen Show.

Back in April, crew members for the show alleged that they were jerked around about their pay and employment status during the initial industry-wide coronavirus shutdown. According to the report, they were then passed over for a non-union tech company when it came to building a remote set and taping the show virtually from DeGeneres’s home.

Then, a couple months after DeGeneres’s former security guard called her “demeaning” to work with, two damning reports filled with anecdotes from numerous former employees surfaced via BuzzFeed in July. In one, top-level producers were accused of sexually harassing junior staffers. And in the second, the show was said to have allegedly facilitated a culture of workplace bullying and racial discrimination.

Subsequently, DeGeneres issued an apology letter to her staff and promised that there would be a workplace investigation. But even so, the internet has continued to call her out given the severity of these allegations and the fact that they run so counter to her image of inoffensive kindness.

And the latest viral talking point? An old tweet from 2009, in which the talk show host wrote that she made an employee cry “like a baby.”

“I made one of my employees cry like a baby on today’s show,” she wrote. “Honestly, it felt good.”

Needless to say, in the wake of the allegations, many commenters were horrified by the post — with many taking it as confirmation of these reports.

However, according to a source speaking to Page Six, the tweet was actually made in reference to a happy moment in which DeGeneres surprised a staffer named Jeannie Klisiewicz with a cruise. Additionally, the publication also reported that on Monday she promised to interact more with her staff and announced the exit of the three men — executive producers Ed Glavin and Kevin Leman and co-executive producer Jonathan Norman — who were accused of sexual harassment.

DeGeneres has yet to respond to the tweet controversy.

Britney Spears’ Dad Speaks Out About #FreeBritney

One thing is clear: Jamie Spears is not here for the #FreeBritney movement.

The father of world renowned pop star Britney Spears told The New York Post, per Page Six, that the conspiracies are “a joke.” “All these conspiracy theorists don’t know anything. The world don’t have a clue,” he said. “It’s up to the court of California to decide what’s best for my daughter. It’s no one else’s business.”

Spears also denied accusations that he’s been stealing his daughter’s money over the years. “I have to report every nickel and dime spent to the court every year,” he said. “How the hell would I steal something?”

But he said that what really gets on his nerves is how far some people have taken the viral online movement. “People are being stalked and targeted with death threats. It’s horrible. We don’t want those kinds of fans. I love my daughter.” He continued, “I love all my kids. But this is our business. It’s private.”

Britney, 38, has been in a 12-year legal conservatorship, with her being under her father’s care. His duties include managing her finances. Last month, fans who supported the #FreeBritney went as far as disrupting a confidential quarterly Zoom meeting meeting Britney had with a judge.

Dina’s been through a lot. The OG Disney stage mom — and alumni of Living Lohan and Celebrity Big Brother — has been married to an abuser and weathered her daughters’ career ups and downs and run-ins with the law. For those looking for the latest on Lindsay, sounds like the topic will come up. Dina was also recently, um, catfished, which the world realized when she announced she was engaged to a man she’d been dating for five years, but never met (he promises he’s real and is down to FaceTime). She promises Page Six she’ll dish about the relationship. So needless to say, there’s lots to cover.

Dina Lohan on Instagram: “A Hammock Kind of Day in NY 🏖”

“Listen To Me, OG Mama D” will be co-hosted with Bravo star Chanel Omari, also known as the “Princess of Long Island.” However, it seems like she’s having trouble locking down a network. She told Page Six that the podcast will be available on Spotify, iTunes and iHeartRadio, although a rep for iHeart told the outlet, “We are not aware of any projects in the works with Dina.” Wishing Dina luck with her streaming pursuits. Are The Weeknd and Usher Feuding?

It’s unclear if this was a Freudian slip, but according to Page Six, in a new Variety cover story, The Weeknd claims R&B legend Usher copied his musical style from his debut mixtape, House of Balloons.

“House of Balloons literally changed the sound of pop music before my eyes,” The Weeknd said. “I heard ‘Climax,’ that Usher song, and was like, ‘Holy f–k, that’s a Weeknd song.”

The Canadian musician’s House of Balloons mixtape was released in 2011, a year before Usher’s “Climax” came out in 2012. The song earned Usher a Grammy in 2013 for Best R&B Performance.

“It was very flattering, and I knew I was doing something right,” The Weekend told Variety of his predecessor’s alleged mimicry. “But I also got angry. But the older I got, I realized it’s a good thing.”

Though The Weeknd is iconic in his own right, Usher has been making influential R&B since the ’90s. Naturally, this spawned the #ClimaxChallenge online, in which fans debated which of the singers’ songs were ultimately “better.”

Eventually, Usher got in the mix, by singing “Climax” and posting it in his Instagram Stories.

Andrew Cuomo’s Ex-Girlfriend Addresses His Nipples

Does Andrew Cuomo have pierced nipples? The internet wants to know. This conspiracy theory, brought to you by too much time on Twitter, began with a viral photo of the New York state governor. At a press conference on March 27, Cuomo made the interesting choice to wear a white polo T-shirt, that appears oddly lumpy around the nipples in news footage of the event.

Cuomo’s ex-girlfriend, TV chef Sandra Lee (the couple split last year after 14 years together) wants nipplegate to end. Interestingly, she interpreted the rumors as “bodyshaming,” although I suspect they stem more from a collective desire for Cuomo to secretly be a stannable kinky weirdo, than a criticism of his body.

“Good morning everybody, I hope you have a great day,” Lee greeted fans in a pajama-clad Instagram story caught by Page Six. “I just want to take a moment and say, I woke up this morning to a lot of stuff going on online, a lot of stories being written and a lot of nonsense being said. And I just want to say, body shaming is not ok.” Hm… I think she’s talking about us.

“When people are out on the frontlines working so hard for all of our benefits, to then turn around and bodyshame,” she went on, not her ex Cuomo but obviously referring to him. “Shame on you. Knock it off. Do something to uplift people and make the world a better place, not take cheap shots that are unnecessary.”

Sandra Lee on Instagram: “Relaxing on a Sunday is the best! #SundayFunday ☀️”

Referring to the chatter as “nonsense,” Lee doesn’t specifically confirm or deny the nipple rumors. She would know, having dated the guy for 14 years. Or would she? The couple broke up in September. Nothing like a new piercing, or a global pandemic to get your mind of a break-up.

Is Tana Mongeau Trading in Jake Paul for Logan?

Wherever Tana Mongeau goes, messiness seems to follow and the past few months have not been especially kind to the YouTube personality’s historically fraught love life. Earlier this year Mongeau announced that she was taking a break from her “open relationship” with husband, fellow YouTuber Jake Paul, only five months after their highly publicized wedding.

Shortly after the split, Mongeau explained to Page Six that she was going to take a break from dating as a result and spend more time focusing on herself. She didn’t specify how long she thought that might take but from the looks of it, she might already be on the rebound. Better yet — she might be keeping things in the family.

Mongeau was spotted the other day in LA on a potentially-more-than-friendly lunch date with none other than fellow YouTube star, and ex-husband’s brother, Logan Paul fueling a tidal wave of speculation. The pair was careful to avoid being photographed doing anything incriminating like holding hands or making out, but the hug they shared and the affectionate kiss Paul placed on Mongeau’s head are apparently more than enough to convince people that the two are more than just friends.

@maeilvivi on Instagram: “tana really out here dating her ex husbands brother😐 …”

The concept of Mongeau swapping out one brother for another might be possibly more upsetting if there wasn’t already precedent when it came to the Pauls. Many were quick to point out that in 2017, Jake revealed that his ex-girlfriend at the time, Alissa Violet, had hooked up with Logan during a contentious time in their relationship. The whole incident was reported to have resulted a prolonged period of tension between the two siblings. Couple that with the fact that Logan has previously gone on record to question the sincerity behind Tana and Jake’s wedding and the whole thing starts to feel like another storm is brewing.

Though Tana nor either Paul brother have confirmed, it also wouldn’t be surprising if it did turn out to be true. On the contrary, it would be incredibly on brand.

Nicky Hilton Claps Back at Piers Morgan Over Vintage Chanel Comment

An article by Page Six raised a few eyebrows on Twitter recently after its headline read that wealthy socialite Nicky Hilton was “fighting climate change by wearing vintage Chanel.”

Hilton, however, never said in the story that she was fighting climate change; rather she explained to the reporter that she was wearing vintage as an act of support for a sustainability award being handed out at the fashion event she was at.

Piers Morgan, always one to chime in, retweeted the piece while sarcastically adding, “God bless these selfless millionaire celebrities – their sacrifice knows no bounds.” Hilton clapped back at Morgan, while giving him a shrewd lesson on sustainability.

“I attended an event w/ @maisondemode for its 1st ever sustainability award,” she said, referring to the environmentally conscious luxury brand. “I took the subway while wearing old pieces from my closet, including a vintage Chanel bag in name of sustainability. Every intention, however small (carbon footprint offset by subway+vintage) counts.”

Maison de Mode also weighed in. “Well said Nicky — @piersmorgan wearing vintage is in fact one the best ways to be sustianable [sic] when it comes to fashion and it doesn’t matter what the label is,” the brand tweeted.

As for that Page Six headline? Hilton also shut that down real quick. “Do you really think I claimed I was fighting climate change wearing vintage Chanel?? Clickbait nonsense..” she tweeted.

Tana Mongeau Opens Up About Being Single

Tana Mongeau says she’s doing pretty well following the announcement that she and her husband, fellow YouTuber Jake Paul, would be taking a “break” after five months of marriage.

None

While speaking to Page Six, Mongeau said that she’s taking some time for herself, which means recusing herself from the L.A. dating pool so that she can focus on her wellbeing.

“I’m just really focusing on loving myself, doing good things for myself,” Mongeau said, before explaining that she doesn’t really want to “force” or “rush” anything at the moment. “[I’m] trying to really focus on my mental health and physical health and help my followers do the same and see where life takes me.”

None

And while it’s unclear how permanent this “break” is, Mongeau’s comments were made during a press conference she was hosting for Paul’s boxing match with British YouTuber, Gib — so it’s obvious the two are still on good terms.

Not only that, but she once again reiterated that she has nothing but love for Paul, telling the publication that, “if you love someone so much sometimes you have to let them go.”

That said, on a separate phone call with Page Six, Paul seemed to be a little more focused on his upcoming match — and his newfound love of boxing.
