TikTok Can Stay, Thanks to Oracle and Walmart

Earlier today, Chinese tech giant ByteDance put out a statement addressing rumors that TikTok would become predominantly American-owned, as both Oracle and Walmart said when they announced the deal.

Rather, TikTok Global, a new US-based company aimed at keeping the app up and running, will be ByteDance’s “100% owned subsidiary” and will drop to 80% after some financing before the new company goes public.

However, Walmart and Oracle have said TikTok Global would be “majority owned by American investors” with both companies taking a combined 20% stake — complying with Trump’s Executive Order — allowing the app to remain active in the US. The companies would pay a total of $12 billion if they agree to the $60 billion valuation ByteDance seeks for TikTok, according to Bloomberg News.

Though they’re only working for that 20% stake now, both companies said TikTok Global’s American ownership would “increase and grow over time,” following its first public offering on a US stock exchange, which is expected to take place within a year.

Other American investors, including Silicon Valley-based Sequoia Capital and buyout firm General Atlantic, already own around 40% of ByteDance.

Ken Glueck, Oracle’s executive vice president, said “Upon creation of TikTok Global, Oracle/ Walmart will make their investment and the TikTok Global shares will be distributed to their owners, Americans will be the majority and ByteDance will have no ownership in TikTok Global.”

Though ByteDance hasn’t issued a direct response regarding TikTok Global’s ownership, the company said it hopes “to reach a cooperation agreement that meets the legal requirements of the United States and China as soon as possible.”

Those plans may come to a halt, according to certain sources. Hu Xijin, editor in chief of the Global Times, said Beijing won’t approve of the deal between ByteDance and Oracle/ Walmart as the agreement could “endanger” China.

The deal doesn’t involve any technology-transfers, but provided the transaction goes through, Oracle would be able to review the app’s source code.

TikTok Denies Shadow Banning LGBTQ+ Hashtags

As if anyone is shocked –– TikTok is once again censoring LGBTQ+ people on the app.

For a bit of background, the Chinese-owned entertainment app has a history of censoring content. TikTok previously banned pro-LGBTQ+ content, blocked a user that criticized China and has stifled posts from users that were deemed “ugly,” poor or disabled.

Most recently, TikTok administrators admitted that they restricted several LGBTQ+ hashtags on the app. This includes “gay,” “lesbian” and “transgender.” The Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) exposed TikTok’s shadow ban against the hashtags in languages including Russian, Estonia, Bosnian and Arabic.

When something is “shadow banned,” a user is able to post their content as normal, but it’s blocked or partially blocked and hidden from the TikTok community. Apps like Instagram use it to block anything sexual.

“TikTok users posting videos with these hashtags are given the impression their posts are just as searchable as posts by other users, but in fact they aren’t,” according to the report. “In practice, most of these hashtags are categorized in TikTok’s code in the same way that terrorist groups, illicit substances, and swear words are treated on the platform.”

According to a report from Pink News, TikTok is denying that the app was practicing censorship. Rather, they’re insisting that the shadow ban was a “localized” approach to moderation. In other words, some terms were restricted due to local laws, while “other terms were restricted because they were primarily used when looking for pornographic content.”

Though the spokesperson in the report admitted that some of the terms were being incorrectly moderated, it’s unclear what measures are being taken to rectify the situation.

“We want to be crystal clear that TikTok strongly supports our LGBTQ+ creators around the world and is proud that LGBTQ+ content is among the most popular category on the platform with billions of views,” the spokesperson said.

Is This the End of Tiktok as We Know It?

Trump can’t let us have shit.

If you weren’t already on TikTok, there’s a big chance you familiarized yourself with at least a couple of its viral dances during quarantine. The app’s popularity has grown exponentially this year, with VICE citing 315 million downloads in the first three months of 2020.

As of Monday, however, it seems the Trump administration is looking to ban a number of apps tied to China — TikTok included. Concerns regarding user privacy and security are nothing new, but now Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced plans to take action.

Speaking with Fox News, Pompeo said that the government is “taking this very seriously” and added that “with respect to Chinese apps on people’s cell phones, I can assure you the United States will get this one right.” Pompeo went on to address TikTok specifically, saying that people should only download the app “if [they] want [their] private information in the hands of the Chinese Communist Party.”

Beijing-based startup ByteDance, which owns TikTok, responded to Pompeo’s comments, saying that it does not share its data with the Chinese government. “TikTok is led by an American CEO, with hundreds of employees and key leaders across safety, security, product and public policy here in the US,” a TikTok spokesperson told VICE, referring to former Disney exec Kevin Mayer who was appointed CEO of the app in March as a part of the app’s attempt to distance itself from its parent company.

TikTok maintains that American data from the app is stored in servers in the US and that backups exist in Singapore, meaning the data is not subject to Chinese law. The app isn’t even available in China, though ByteDancde also owns a similar app made specifically for Chinese users, Douyin.

This isn’t the first time TikTok’s been targeted by the US administration. Just last year, senators Tom Cotton and Chuck Schumer requested that the intelligence community conduct a security assessment of the app in a joint letter to Joseph Maguire, the director of national intelligence. In the letter, Cotton and Schumer expressed that TikTok and other apps “support and cooperate with intelligence work controlled by the Chinese Communist Party.”

The US isn’t alone in targeting TikTok, with India banning the app last week, along with 58 other Chinese apps, as a result of growing tensions between Delhi and Beijing over clashes along the Himalayan border.

Woman Sends a Ton of Onions to Make Her Ex ‘Cry as Much’ as She Did

Exes just seem to bring out the petty in us. That said, one woman recently took this to a whole new level with the help of some vegetables.

The Daily Mail reports that the incident happened in the province of Shandong in eastern China after a woman — known by her surname Zhao — found out her boyfriend of over a year was cheating on her.

However, after he dumped her, she came up with a pretty creative way to “make him cry as much as [she] did.” Her solution? To send him a literal ton of onions.

In pics published by the Chinese media, the cheating ex can be seen despondently staring at a pile of red onions plopped on his doorstep, while a second photo shows another truckload of onions — which apparently took a total of four hours to deliver — waiting outside his apartment complex.

Not only that, but according to their reports, Zhao included a note with the delivery that read, “I’ve cried for three days, now it’s your turn.” She also timed the onions to arrive ahead of “520 Day” on May 20, which serves as an unofficial Valentine’s Day in China.

“I heard from my friends that he was not upset at all after breaking up [with me],” Zhao told the publications.

“I spent three days at home crying. I was so heart-broken. So, I ordered a ton of onions to his home. I’ve got money,” she said, before adding, “I wanted him to know the taste of tears.”

As for the ex, he apparently told Shandong Net that he broke up with her due to her “dramatic” and “over-the-top behaviors.”

“She is telling everyone that I haven’t shed one tear since our break-up,” he told the website. “Am I a bad person for simply not crying?” And though he may not be crying, a neighbor reportedly added that they’ve definitely been a little teary-eyed, as their whole complex “stinks of onions” now. Oop!

Social Distancing TikToks: How Gen Z is Coping With COVID-19

“Consult your local health authorities for the latest on COVID-19,” an app-wide warning reads at the bottom of any TikTok tagged #coronavirus. Thousands upon thousands of people around the world self-quarantine, and thousands more are beginning to take precautions to avoid COVID-19, utilizing social distancing measures. After laying in bed for my virtual business law lecture, I find that my For You Page is an endless scroll of memes about coughing in public, toilet paper hysteria and online college classes. Auckland pop newcomer BENEE’s isolationist hit “Supalonely” is coincidentally one of the most viral sounds on the platform at the moment, with over two million videos made to the track and top influencers trying out the dance. This is TikTok under the threat of the novel coronavirus.

What seemed like far-off meme fodder mere days ago has evolved into a reality that a generation inheriting a laundry list of sociopolitical problems is trying to comprehend, sans Contagion-level anxiety. Jokes have turned into surrealist play-by-plays of life behind screens. Something compelling appears when contrasting TikTok timelines with other social media platforms at the moment: hope.

Related | The ‘For You’ Age: How TikTok Conquered 2019

A glimmer of optimism exists on the Gen Z-powered TikTok, with a steady stream of fact-checking COVID-19 videos broken up by cute dogs and various dance trends. On Twitter, you’d be hard pressed to find anything to stem the flow of information (and disinformation) surrounding the pandemic. That’s not to say that ignorance is bliss on TikTok, but rather that the content has become reflective of the app’s joyful nature.

TikToks can easily be made in isolation; dance trends are limited to a solitary range of pixels, causing movements to be limited but intentional. Jokes are hyper-current and daily artifacts, and homepages are tailored to the individual. Most of all, the platform heals isolation: duets, sound-sharing, and the other general functions that TikTok possesses as a social network are allowing even the most panic-ridden users to stay connected.

You may not have seen this coming, but it’s here regardless: TikTok is helping a generation cope with a pandemic.

Think Before You Meme About Corona

Since the emergence of the coronavirus this past December, it seems as if COVID-19 is the only thing the internet can talk about right now. From emergency declaratives to a rising death toll, every day seems to bring another unnerving story about its disastrous potential to light. And though public health officials and experts have pushed back on the “overestimated” risk of death and “disproportionate” fears, the online “infodemic” surrounding COVID-19 has made the “pandemic” panic hard to stamp out — and it’s something that experts have begun to express worry over in the past few weeks.

After all, while there is some legitimate concern, much of the alarm has been hinged upon non-stop discussion of the outbreak’s spread. And while a near-constant stream of news coverage has definitely contributed to the panic, an accompanying glut of memes and viral videos that perpetuate a number of false narratives and outright conspiracy theories have also become a cause for concern.

Even in the past few years, the internet has changed the way we consume and respond to information of this sort. However, given the way it’s unfolded online, the coronavirus conversation has, arguably, become the first major global health panic we’ve had to grapple with on this scale — though it’s unlikely that it will be the last. But even as a number of social media platforms implement “fake news” safeguards and groups like the World Health Organization attempt to spread intel via TikTok, the underlying question remains: How exactly has the internet changed the way we respond to crises? Is having an excess of information of varying degrees of credibility, ultimately, for the better or worse? And what are the ramifications of the mass hysteria phenomenon going viral?

To get to the bottom of this, we have to start with why the coronavirus in particular has — psychologically speaking — struck such a chord online, even despite constant reassurance by experts that diseases like the influenza pose a much more tangible, significant threat to society.

Currently, the working theory is that this logical disconnect is the result of a superabundance of online chatter that capitalizes on the substantial amount of public fascination stemming from the coronavirus’s novelty and the lack of research surrounding this relatively new threat. As Forbes posited, humans have a “built-in survival mechanism” that prioritizes negative thinking in order to protect themselves from potential danger. And while this means “existential threats often receive more attention than they deserve,” it’s an instinct that also bolsters widespread public interest — something mirrored within the media’s 24-hour coverage of the virus.

After all, as Dr. Robert Bartholomew — a medical sociologist who’s studied the effects of social media on mass psychogenic illnesses — explained, “We live in an age when the media, which is a business, is always in crisis mode. Every week there seems to be a new crisis. Before coronavirus it was North Korea, cybersecurity, the threat posed by refugees, Iran, Russian hackers, and so on.”

But what does this mean in a world where bias-heavy websites concerned with views and profit have begun masquerading as reliable sources of information? Because while some traditional media outlets have definitely played a role in the perpetuation of dangerous misconceptions, what about the websites spreading viral content that hasn’t been fact-checked or extensively scrutinized? And, for that matter, what do we do about posts created by those who may choose to sensationalize or selectively present certain information in their quest for clicks and engagement?

Given the fact that many posts about the outbreak have been shared hundreds of thousands of times, it shouldn’t be surprising that we’ve also seen a number of opportunists trying to cash in on the coronavirus’s inherent virality. From infamy-hungry influencers claiming to have the virus to the creation of “coronavirus meme accounts,” there’s been an influx of content spouting incorrect information related to the outbreak’s spread and prevention. After all, just look at the controversy surrounding Summer Walker’s sharing of a video by YouTube music news channel DomIsLiveNews, which used misleading footage taken two years ago to show how people in China have been “spreading the coronavirus to the public.”

As illustrated by this incident though, some of these posts have had a more insidious side effect — namely, engendering a level of unnecessary vitriol and unfounded fear toward a perceived “Other.” After all, it’s not as if irrational overreactions bred by collective illusions of potential threats are anything new in our society, as exemplified by everything from the Salem Witch Trials to the way Jews were scapegoated as harbingers of the Black Plague. That said, as certain types of content continues to feed into things like xenophobia and racially motivated attacks, this rise of rampant misinformation has become all the more urgent to address.

However, that’s not to say that all the viral content being made about the coronavirus is bad per se. In a world where more and more young people turn toward memes and viral posts as major news sources, the dissemination of accurate information in a digestible, attention-catching way is inherently valuable in and of itself. Not only that, but it should be noted that the jokier side of the internet’s coronavirus obsession is symptomatic of another psychological phenomenon related to the way we grapple with lesser-known fears and threats.

“People are now in the habit of going online and subconsciously reducing their psychic stress,” Dr. Bartholomew said. “In the past, people might have gone to church and prayed, whereas today in a more secular age, they go online and discuss their fears as a form of collective coping.”

In the past, these types of anxiety were dealt with “more individually” before the age of social media, the ubiquity of the internet has allowed us a new outlet for collectively dealing “with things that frighten us.” And, given the nature of internet culture today, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the younger generation, in particular, have done everything from creating TikTok dance trends to starting entire meme forums dedicated to the coronavirus.

“You wouldn’t meme about your uncle who has cancer, but jokes that make fun of the coronavirus can be a collective way to release tension among friends or strangers,” he observed. “It’s well-known in psychology that the process of talking about traumatic events can help people ‘get it off their chest’ and relieve stress.”

So while there’s something to be said about the benefits of engaging in viral content related to the coronavirus, there should also be a level of discretion when choosing to share certain content, especially if it has the potential to influence the health choices of others or increase hostility toward others. Needless to say, just meme wisely and remember to wash your hands.

Summer Walker Criticized For ‘Racist’ Coronavirus Post

Summer Walker is under fire for perpetuating “racist” and “xenophobic” narratives in her recent post about the coronavirus.

Earlier this week, Walker shared a video titled of people in China — where the outbreak originated — “spreading the coronavirus to the public” to her Instagram. She also wrote in the caption, “That’s some trifling nasty ass shit.”

However, as several commenters pointed out, the footage used in the video is two years old. Not only that, but many accused her of using her large platform to disseminate misinformation and anti-Asian xenophobia.

“I’m really disappointed,” as one person wrote. “Spreading this kind of propaganda about the coronavirus/generalizing an entire ass group of people without any context perpetuates a cycle of unnecessary hate and ignorance.”

i’ve been the biggest fan of summer walker for the longest time, but i’m really disappointed. spreading this kind of propaganda about the coronavirus/generalizing an entire ass group of people without any context perpetuates a cycle of unnecessary hate and ignorance. pic.twitter.com/MD8E4QN7qY

— jasmine 🙂 (@smoothjaszz) March 4, 2020

summer walker, whose hygiene got dragged recently for taking “cat baths”, should be the last person to flap her mouth spewing xenophobia over the coronavirus

— no (@miskeencore) March 4, 2020

summer walker is just…………. yall keep giving her pass after pass in the name of social anxiety when it’s really her unrelated shitty takes that are concerning af. the girl has no tact or decorum and gives no fucks.

— ASH LEON 🕊 (@TheAshLeon) March 4, 2020

Meanwhile, others argued that Walker had no problem using Asian aesthetics and anime culture in her work before “[turning] around and is racist to Asian people” to spread “fake ass news to fit her racist narrative.”

I find it real funny how summer walker loves the whole anime girl aesthetic but turns around and is racist to asian people and spreads fake ass news to fit her racist narrative she’s a racist 🤡 pic.twitter.com/K6BEVsWpbq

— RuRu✨👑 (@itruby235) March 4, 2020

I have no choice but to unstan Summer Walker. How can you use Asian aesthetics in your work but be a xenophobic little bitch to Asians and spread fake news on your large ass platform? pic.twitter.com/EtZHvgDskU

— Ai (@aaaaira) March 4, 2020

Unfortunately, Walker doubled down on her post by responding to fans with comments like, “all I saw was some nasty shit period, idgaf if my mama did that shit, it’s fucking nasty.”

why is she such an ass pic.twitter.com/ZVKuhgFRiL

— Prudence “Wish a” Niggawood (@gIossiergirl) March 4, 2020

Summer Walker claims to be such a strong empath that hugging her fans is emotionally draining because she can feel their inner turmoil but somehow can’t understand how her clearly xenophobic posts about coronavirus can be hurtful to an entire racial group?? Yeah okay.

— coco (@lannadelnegro) March 4, 2020

And though Walker deleted the video following the backlash, she also decided to follow-up with a series of Instagram stories defending herself.

“Lol people so dumb, talking about I’m racist and that video was from a long time ago,” she wrote. “It don’t matter if it was from 20 years ago, bottom line that shit nasty & IDGAF if a black white yellow or green person did that shit, it’s still nasty.” She also wrote, “& why I ain’t here about none of this ‘xenophobic shit’ when mf’s had ebola? LOL.”

Walker has since deleted her entire account. See screenshots of her response, below.

funny how summer walker’s social anxiety been REAL quiet ever since the racist and xenophobic side of her jumped out. i’m just tryna get some good r&b music from her but her dumbass still ain’t tired from running her mouth 😭😭😭 cancelled. pic.twitter.com/YEKa2QrhSV

Ygtut – Prophecy Lyrics

[Hook: TUT]
I’m back on this microphone
Y’all don’t even understand what kind of life I’m on
Walking through the valley with my Nikes on
Prophecy – I had to go and get my psyche on
Damn that nigga TUT and K be making songs
I remember making plays inside of vacant homes
Make the wrong turn you might not make it home
I’m trying to make a million dollars, it won’t take me long

[Verse 1: TUT]
I’ve been looking for truth, not sure if I’ll ever find it
Sleep with the enemy and kill her at the top of a climax
Flee to a different climate, I’m shining like freshly polished
Silver ware at the diner, breaking out the good china
I’m as fresh as my line up, working from Monday to Sunday
Feed the team like a coach at CiCi’s pizza on Monday
Swipe your visa Lord Jesus so y’all can pay some attention
I’ve been pimpin’ since Pippen these hoes just made it a business
Y’all done made me the villain, call me TUT the Joker
Made your lady my baby, rolled her around in my stroller
Getting neck like a shoulder, I’m bout my paper like folders
Sell that weed like a dominoes, “Hi can I take your order”
Unknown numbers, I do not pick up, that there is a stick up
Pick up yo’ bitch with no pick up line, she call and I don’t pick up
Hands in the air this a stick up, bitch we ain’t playin that
We ain’t asking no questions, dog we just making a statement, uh

Make the wrong turn you might not make it home
I’m trying to make a million dollars, it won’t take me long

[Verse 2: Johnny Smathers]
The truth is what you hoping to find
It’s hocus pocus, so instead we try to focus this grind
You start to see the smoke and mirrors when you open your mind
I want them hooked on these bars, I put some dope in these lines
I put some drug in your ear, I hope I’m coming in clear
See it ain’t even hard to tell who sit and running it here
They call me big papi mami, ain’t no bunting in here
You know like y’all want the answer like we talking ‘bout practice
She got that wet pack they say my name John the Baptist
The homies is local, I said that I want the atlas
You know the axis to axis, I put them ashes to ashes
We puff and pass it, putting sound waves in a casket
Like every track could be classic, been gettin’ gettin’ them buckets
I try to kill them with kindness but they just stay on that f**k shit
I sit and chill at the brunch and keep trying to function
She gets baked and gives them buns up like they fresh out the oven, ah

Tu tens o ritmo da selva nas veias
Ao teu lado elas sabem que não passam do resto

E quando esse booty faz um all around
Todos ficam c’os olhos em bico, china town
Se alinhas all good baby ‘tou nessa
Fala comigo porque brain is the new ass

David Byrne & St. Vincent – Dinner For Two Lyrics

[Verse 1 – David Byrne]
By the time the guests arrive
Ooh, already it was dark outside
Tables set with china dishes
We’re welcomed in with tiny kisses
What’s her name?; I don’t remember
Isn’t that the famous author?
Harry’s gonna get some appetizers
Well, he’s keeping out of range of small arms fire
Dina has a phone; she says it’s working
Now she’s crawling on the floor, across the kitchen

[Hook – David Byrne & St. Vincent]
Something I should tell you
But we are never alone

[Verse 2 – David Byrne]
Tanks outside the bedroom window
We’ll be okay with the curtain closed
The guests are fine behind the sofa
It’s much too late, they should not go home

[Hook – David Byrne & St. Vincent]
Something I should tell you
But we are never alone

[Verse 3: David Byrne]
Up by dawn, already morning
I ask myself what is going on
Some tender words and sidelong glances
Are you okay, have you lived here long?

[Instrumental]

[Verse 4]
Underneath the stairway
Somebody’s changing her clothes
Sweatpants and a t-shirt
Silk dresses cover the floor

[Verse 5 – Byrne & St. Vincent]
Sit down by my side
Take my overcoat
When will we get out?
Maybe a week or soon
Some of us losing it
Some of us breaking down
Some of us stick it out
Used to it now

[Instrumental]

[Hook]
Something I should tell you
But we are never alone
There’s something I should tell you
And I’ve been waiting so long

[Outro]
When it’s over with, going our separate ways
How about you and me;
Dinner for two

David Keenan – The Friary Lyrics

Memories of razor green
Floating down your sofa seams
We’re so happy, happy as Larry

Flicking ash into a glass
Friend or foe from recent past
You ignite me
Traffics light invite me

Floating down your street
Dodging bottles as we seek
Got a face in the rain
He says he’s out of the game

He was a loveable rogue
He never did what he was told
Same fella’, went to school in the dalla

From boy O’Reilly
Yeah you marched right beside me
Yeah man, you took a vacation
Of sleep deprivation
They let you out on probation
Oh, meet me at the station
Won’t you find me?
C’mon and find me

See you at the friary
Know you won’t deny me
See you at the friary
Know you won’t deny me, no
Sure you won’t, you said you wouldn’t, say you won’t?

See all them ladies of the night
They’re all polishing their knives
And they dwell in the alleys
Sea gave the scallies

Hopelessly in love
With the working man’s drug
Yeah I stumble as I amble
Through the disappearing bramble
The cobble understone
The tight roofs upon the homes
Derelict and sea-turned
Relics of my old turns

Singing of to the kids
Running through the china bridge
Wakes me from my slumber
I wonder

From boyle O’Reilly
Yeah you marched right beside me
Yeah man, you took a vacation
Of sleep deprivation
They let you out on probation
Oh, meet me at the station
Won’t you find me?
C’mon and find me

See you at the friary
Know you won’t deny me
See you at the friary
Know you won’t deny me
Yeah, I’m gonna see you at the friary
No I know, no no no you won’t deny me
Gonna meet you at the friary
Know you won’t deny me, no
Sure you won’t, you said you wouldn’t say I won’t?

Marty Balin – Count On Me Lyrics

Precious love
I’ll give it to you
Blue as the sky and deep in the
Eyes of a love so true
You make me feel light on the stairs and lost in the
Air of a love so real
And you can count on me girl
You can count on my love
Woman
You can count on me baby
You can count on my love to see
You through
Emerald eyes and china perfume
Caught in the wheel and lost in
The feel of a love so soon
Ruby lips
You make my song
Into the night and saved by the light
Of a love so strong
You can count on me girl
You can count on my love

The world on drugs
Ten (yeah) thousand dollar plates
Thousand dollar plates
Thousand dollar plates, fine china
Shawty like a
Shawty like a

[Chorus: Juice WRLD]
Shawty like a thousand dollar plate of fine china
Tell her that she beautiful everyday, I remind her
Then I jump in the pussy like a lake, I’m a diver
And her last man was a pussy, had a vagina
I get lost in her eyes like dust from the sky
It’s her body or nobody, I refuse to compromise
So if she leaves, I’ma kill her, oh, she a dime
Did I say that out loud? I’m so crazy about mine

[Verse 1: Juice WRLD]
Going insane, feel you pickin’ up and movin’ things inside my brain
I know I don’t have to argue about everything
But we don’t have the same soul
[?] we got a bigger bankroll
Tell me that you love me, baby, say it again
Repeat it over and over until it’s in my brain
Picked up the drugs so I let my brain
[?] but I’m selfish about my Percs, oh

[Chorus: Juice WRLD]
Shawty like a thousand dollar plate of fine china
Tell her that she beautiful everyday, I remind her
Then I jump in the pussy like a lake, I’m a diver
And her last man was a pussy, had a vagina
I get lost in her eyes like dust from the sky
It’s her body or nobody, I refuse to compromise
So if she leaves, I’ma kill her, oh, she a dime
Did I say that out loud? I’m so crazy about mine

[Verse 2: Future]
I’m so crazy about mine
I’m goin’ to Pluto with my girl
I’m goin’ to Jupiter with my girl
I’m goin’ to Mars with my girl
I’m goin’ to Saturn with my girl
Feelin’ like I’m runnin’ out of space
You need to send your location, I can’t think
I done fell in love twice but I gotta be lyin’
‘Cause I’m livin’ ten lives, I go crazy about mine

[Chorus: Juice WRLD]

Lupe Fiasco – Cripple Lyrics

[Intro]
Turn the beat up some more
Ay-yeah-yeah, [?]

[Verse 1]
Uh, rectangle full of color
Complicated man sits, dedicated to the rutter
Under Apollo, overfilling under [?], when [?] wallows
It’s said he looks for Yetis in tomorrow
And do-gooders become regretters for giving gobble
At the Oshawa in Park Slope
Broken dancers rather flatten [?] than work at Arco
Flippers who feat feets riff contortionists hips and [?] slippers
Tweezers release slithers
From lines with deep splinters, paws for sweet skippers
Another key-figure’s of East River’s who eat liver and drink liquor
And root for bird due to an unconscious urge to beat niggas
Who prefer sweet, steep sleep and to pour holes with the east of police triggers
Sikhs at the hair show, Arabs at the airport, Caucasians in the projects, niggas anywhere though

[Refrain]
People lovingly exclaim
People lovingly exclaim
People lovingly exclaim
People…

[Hook]
Beauty is the largest, obstacles to obsess
Decorate the seargent, community resistance, and progress

[Verse 2]
Pull out game strong like the [?] kid, but also like a life-guard
Now that don’t even make no sense—but since, if the swimmers ain’t got no rings on
Don’t be a fag, let me stab that yoo-hoo in my ding-dong
Fruits of interracials, my banana’s bigger than King Kong
Both ways seem wrong like nobody in China is good at ping-pong
Seem wrong? That’s evidence they shouldn’t be passing their genes on
That was racist, but I’ma run with it
Like every sagging pair of pants-ass that have a gun in it
So I undid it, like a Singapore with gum in it
Does that mean if I let you write that I can put my thumbs in it?
Uhn—nasty, but let the moment pass, only wave if they ask
And catch me at the scene of the crash, karma
They hate blood like Blade, so they hate ’cause like an English teacher grades

[Hook 2]
Beauty is the largest, obstacles to obsess
Diasporan sonnets, community resistance, and progress

[Refrain]
People lovingly exclaim
People lovingly exclaim
People lovingly exclaim
People…

[Verse 3]
The city: population control, occupation parole
Hope the [?] persuades and this conversation [?]
Not to be Enron, Alexander Hamilton to Cassandra’s Agamemnon
The environment is more than just a panda at the wind farm
Looks cool but it’s bull as cool fusers
And the abuse is fueled of duel-losers
To make fools of the schools and [?]
The crusade delegislate oxygen
And put it in the box just like Desiree Washington
Fortune cookie, First Panda excellerate in profiting
Hope Santa fill my socks with highly-decorated moccasins
My, how the roles have reversed
So now we gotta eat ’em for dessert
Bop the kids just to free ’em from the curse
Dress up the thots in lingerie and feed ’em to [?] (uh-huh)

[Hook 3]
Beauty is the largest, organize the objects
Diasporan sonnets, community resistance, and progress

[Outro]
Diasporan sonnets, community resistance, and progress
Woah—the people lovingly exclaim (people lovingly exclaim)
People lovingly exclaim (people lovingly exclaim)
People lovingly exclaim (people lovingly exclaim)
Community resistance and progress
Pe-pe-people lovingly exclaim (people lovingly exclaim)

Gotta make the place
Take the truth (take the)
Get through
Right
Just keep the truth
Fight the blues, fight the blues
Brotha man, young man
Let me tell you somethin’
Young man, brotha man-brotha man
You gotta fight for somethin’
Stand for somethin’
That’s what the poem told me
It was greater poet that you know
I’d rather talk about how my neck is frozen and I
I’d rather talk about naked hoes and the stay up in the bitches

[Chorus: French Montana]
When I went to my bros
Told him help me please
Now we hop out the PJs

My old bitch yellin’ come back
Come back, come back, babe
Come back
Come back, come back
Come back. come back, babe

[Verse: A$AP Rocky, Snoop Dogg & Frank Ocean]
Harlem nights, quick speed, godspeed
Speed it like Grease Lightnin’, leather on my six-speed bike
Bicycle tires, icicle diamonds, popsicle stripes
Popsicles for the Klondikes, pop pop wheelies on the dirty bikes
15 sellin’ china white
Cops stoppin’ if you opposite o’ white
Pop pop like you opposite o’ right
Take heat lil nigga
Lowkey take lead on a nigga
Smooth durag ’round the boulevard
Back in the days on the train
Ride the bus before I ride another nigga wave
Beautiful, the water’s flat like asses pre-Onika (ye-ah)
You the smaller version, you the baby sneaker
Flacko I wonder how it feel to live or be like you
Album number three, and keep it G like Q
Heard you niggas get fly, like G like 2
Nah more like 4, like 3, not 2
Shittin’ on these niggas, like P like U
Drip Raheem and Q
Got Hi-C, like juice
Mama hubby got life, he got three strikes too
Real niggas bleed, like me, like you
That’s why I got a beam with a green light too
I don’t even make a scene, I just swing right through
I’m just bangin’ on my Qs and my Ps, like soup
Walk in my shoes, follow me like suit

[Bridge: A$AP Rocky]
Brotha man, young man
Let me tell you somethin’
Young man, brotha-brotha
Gotta fight for somethin’
Stand for somethin’
Brotha, understand
Gotta make the place
Take the truth (take the)
Get through

When I went to my bros
Told him help me please

[Outro: Frank Ocean]
You’re a cornstar
All you fuck is corn broads
Frenchie faux pas
‘Cause you ain’t had no pa
The dealer got catches like an outfielder
(Are you?-are you?-are you?)
Getting that God’s view from towers
Lookin’ downward like I’m Donald Trump

The Mock Turtles – Mary’s Garden lyrics

[Verse 1]
Show me your ballet horses dancing for the dawn
Show me the shadow dreams that shade embrace your diamond lawn

[Chorus]
Oh Mary, how does your garden grow?
Oh Mary, how does your garden grow?

[Verse 2]
Bring on your pretty maids in shades of china blue
Show me the crystal bells that catch the forming morning dew

[Chorus]
Oh Mary, how does your garden grow?
Oh Mary, how does your garden grow?

[Bridge]
I want you to walk with me under the gazing moon
Just like a fairy tale
Where I could be king, you could be queen
We could watch your garden sleeping, oh!

[Chorus]
How does your garden grow?
Oh Mary, how does your garden grow?

[Outro]
With crystal bells, and cockle shells And pretty maids in a row
With crystal bells, and cockle shells And pretty maids in a row
Oh Mary, how does your garden grow?
Oh Mary, how does your garden grow?

LILNEDBIGBY – Fine China lyrics

(feat. Lil Tay)

[Intro: Lil Tay]
“Mommy, stop! I was recording!”

[Chorus]
You thought it was Tay, but it’s NEDBIGBY instead
After this diss, your career will be dead
You were in my DM, you you leave me on read
Now you’re big in numbers, but your ego’s like your head (small)
You’re in little league, Lil Tay a mini minor
I travel the world just to break your fine china
You ain’t innocent like Mark Zuccie on the trial
Sent me flex vids, then you post it, you’re a liar

[Verse]
Hold a hunnid ‘front of all the ones like it ain’t real
Everyone around you starts to laugh, like you sealed the deal
Low expectations and quality like a Happy Meal
I baked you at 375 like I’m making veal
Verified on Insta but not qualified for pre-k
Soon everyone will know the downfall of Lil Tay
Imma end this verse with your father’s dialect
Not “ESKEETIT” but “Did it feel good though?” is what I meant

Terry Taffinder Grosvenor – Bull In A China Shop lyrics

(Verse 1)
Feel like a bull walking in a china shop – whoa
I keep waiting for a plate to drop – whoa
Not quite sure what will set you off, like a blast from a Molotov – whoa, whoa

(Verse 2)
Your face is scrunched up like a sticky bun – whoa
When you’re not happy, I’m not having fun – whoa
You’re just ruining another day, with all the negative things you say – whoa, whoa

(Bridge 1)
I’m a bull, you’re a matador (a matador)
And I’m tired of keeping score
Let’s be friends, not go to war
Don’t want this combat anymore!

(Verse 3)
Remember the story about Ferdinand
He was a bull no one could understand
He refused to fight, sat on the ground
Smelling the flowers all around – whoa, whoa

(Bridge 2)
Caught in the ring (caught in the ring)
What should I do (what should I do)
Because I don’t (don’t want to be), don’t want to be (don’t want to be)
Hurt by you (hurt by you)

(Verse 4)
Why can’t we live peacefully – whoa
Like Ferdinand by the old cork tree -whoa
You’ll be you and I’ll be me, on a beach by the shining sea – whoa, whoa

(Repeat Verse 1))
Feel like a bull walking in a china shop – whoa
I keep waiting for a plate to drop – whoa
Not quite sure what will set you off, like a blast from a Molotov – whoa, whoa

Ellie Goulding – Vincent

[Verse 1]
Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and grey
Look out on a summer’s day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land

[Chorus]
Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they’ll listen now

[Verse 2]
Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in a violet haze
Reflect in Vincent’s eyes of china blue
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist’s loving hand

[Chorus]
Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they’ll listen now

[Bridge]
For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left in sight
On that starry, starry night
You took your life, as lovers often do
But I could’ve told you, Vincent
This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you

[Verse 3]
Starry, starry night
Portraits hung in empty halls
Frameless heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can’t forget
Like the strangers that you’ve met
The ragged men in ragged clothes
The silver thorn on the bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow

[Outro]
Now I think I know
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they’re not listening still
Perhaps they never will

Duran Duran – Violence Of Summer (Love’s Taking Over)

Pick it up
This’ll get you out of your head

China’s hangin’ out by the railings
Of the motorshed
She goes with a real hit biker
He’s a metalhead
She looks me up and down
Talkin’ dirty eyes
Sweet sayin’ boy baby
I could lick ya any time

Keep it up
That’s right…here we go again

Bit later I’m gonna run
Into her round the back
While other guys break heads
In the Shugar Shack
Don’t give me drink I don’t wanna
Get too stoned
Then we’re gonna see who’s gonna
Take who home

The violence of summer
A love’s taking over
It starts with desire
Ends up under cover

Those lips will make me rise
You may look down but don’t think twice
Slow death is on the way
So what man I still want to play….

One, two
This’ll get you out of your mind
This’ll get you up…let’s go

Maybe take a ride goin’ south
Where her mother writes
Before bad news catches up
We still got a little time
We’ll leave it all so far away
One thing is sure we shouldn’t stay
I take it all little Chine gonna
Get the runaround a run… a runaround

The violence of summer
A love’s taking over
It starts with desire
Ends up under cover

China… na china…nanana
China… na china…nanana
China… na china…nanana
China… na china…nana

The violence of summer
A love’s taking over
It starts with desire
Ends up under cover…mmm… love’s takin’ over
Yes love’s takin’ over
Love’s takin over…
